THE BISHOP'S MESSAGE
MIGHTY MEN
NOVEMBER 10, 2024
It is the Lord who gives gifts to men. No one should underestimate himself but seek to develop what has been given to him by God.
Abraham’s 318, trained men were able to fight and overcome five armies and five Kings. We proceed now to look at David’s Mighty Men. These men came to David before he was crowned King. They saw the potential in him and they were not afraid to join themselves to him. He, David, also saw the potential in them, although they were in debt, distressed and discontented. This holds a lot of lessons for us.

No believer must remain untrained, if we do, we will not be able to come to our full potential in God’s Kingdom. Although from different tribes, they banded themselves together at Ziglag, to make David, king. Listen closely to their words, “we are yours, O David! We are with you, O son of Jesse! Success, success to you, and success to those who help you, for your God will help you.” 1 Chron. 12:19
From a rag tag team to an organized army, these men became men of renown - skilled to handle the shield and the spear, brave warriors ready for battle; men who understood the times and what ought to be done; they were all volunteers who came to David, fully determined to uplift their nation. To many, these men were seen as problems, the reject of society, the worst of men with the worst of problems, but look at the hand of God in transforming men’s lives.

Have you experienced setbacks, loss, disappointments and ridicule? God is not finished with us yet. We have been made destiny helpers for others and others for us, all to build the work of God in the nations. Take a good look at yourself again and see the grace placed upon your head. It is for now, it is for your rising, it is for your significance. We are being made into God’s mighty warriors!
